St Wilfrid’s church, Kirkby in Ashfield accommodated our choir with grace and support. It was a grueling weekend to record 17 songs for our 2nd CD (the last one being in 2012), and the team spirit and enthusiasm didn’t falter once. We have entitled the CD “Tell My Father”, one of the beautiful tracks we recorded, in homage to the 360 choristers over the last 82 years who have enabled us to be the current custodians of the choir’s name.
Everyone gave of their best under the masterful direction of Ian Grice MD and Maureen Lockwood accompanist. Phil Robison also guided us through one of the songs, Kwmbayah. The CD represents us well with its great balance of classic male voice standards, Welsh pieces and those with energy. humour and pathos. All of life is here in these songs and we will be justly proud of the results following months of effort and preparation. Well done and thank you to everyone on this great achievement. Release is set for early October 2026.
Vert hard but successful weekend but just comes to show what teamwork can really achieve..
A couple of days that go down in the history of the choir . Everyone pulled their weight in every way singing ,playing and general assistance where needed .I’m super proud of this great team we all “play” for.Cu all soon .
Extremely tiring but would not have wished to miss a second. It was a honour to be involved and a big thank you to those who made this possible.
A thoroughly enjoyable weekend with friends, who remained friends after the various trials and tribulations of making a CD. Those who do not know about recording sessions may think, seventeen songs? That’s just a long concert, so why are people saying they were tired? Let me explain. We recorded each song twice to make sure of the best ‘take’. Then there were tricky moments when a plane flew over or a door slammed and we had to start again. Actually with repeats we sang 54-55 full songs, not to mention false starts. And yet, when the last notes faded away we were full of smiles, as seen in our brilliant photos. Sorry to go on so long, but this was a special moment for us all.
